TOPIC: Thank you to Laurence for the assistance

Thank you to Laurence for the assistance 2 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
I just wanted to thank Laurence for taking the time to fully elaborate on the most proper methods for conserving energy when deciding what color to paint your house. Initially, my wife and I had planned on painting our house a very dark blue. But we learned that the darker colors absorb the heat, making it much more uncomfortable in the summer time; whereas the lighter colors tend to reflect the sun.

Thanks so much for the advice! I did some outside research and everything you said was completely accurate. I appreciate it.

Ditto,

Laurence I understand that you keep your thermostats down to 59 - I tried that but there was a revolution in my house.- but I came up with a great idea. HEATED MATTRESS PADS! Why heat the whole house at night! These pads can be turned on several hours before going to bed and , you will be welcomed to a bed that feels like slipping into a tub of hot water. I shut my heater off when I go to bed and the bed stays warm all night. Getting into a cold bed literally sucks the heat out of your body. I can keep the room temp 5 degrees cooler now and everyone is comfortable!

PS - the only better alternative is having your dog warm up the bed but while you save a few pennies on electric, it is hard getting the dog to stop snoring...

Beds that keep you warm 1 Year, 11 Months ago Karma: 1
I have always wondered why beds have not been designed - economically - with more features that would safely keep you warm. I read in the paper the other day about beds being designed to accommodate two people with different tastes. A bed with dual controls for tilt and firmness. Heat settings should not be far behind.
