Installing exterior shutters to your home
When remodeling a home, it can be a great addition to the exterior to install shutters, as these can be a nice accent to your home. The great thing about doing this is that it doesn't have to be tough, either.
It is important for you to be aware of what to do when setting up to install. Many people can't go to the store and pick out the shutters that they want, just to have them installed with ease. You really need to be detailed with each window and measure them. Double check, as you want to be as accurate as possible.
Once you have the vital information, it gets easier. This is where your home's DIYer can really go nuts. Pick your paint options at this time, or get shutters that already have a coat of paint to your liking. Installing the shutter frame isn't difficult, and it can rest on the window sill. Grab some screws and a power drill and fasten the sides and the top. Never screw anything too tightly, as it can strip the screws, break the frame and change the shape of the shutters.
Installing the shutters isn't hard, as most of them have specific ways to join them together. When the frame is installed correctly, the shutters should fit comfortably. However, it is really important that if you plan to use the shutters for anything other than show, you have to ensure that they flow smoothly. Moving them to the opened and closed positions will be the best way to determine what needs to be done.
The most important part of the install is the fasteners in the exterior of the home. These will catch the shutters and ensure they will stay open when you aren't dealing with bad weather. Measure the distance they need to be away from the window, and drill holes to guide the process. Once this is all set, you can secure these items to the outside of your home.
Once you have this set, you will be all ready for your home to have a completely new look, and it likely will only take a weekend!
