This Home Maintenance Section is your gateway to 'DIY' guides, Checklists, and helpful ideas on how to tackle all the variety of different tasks a homeowner must master to maintain their home in an effective way while still leaving time to enjoy it.

This grouping of articles covers some very general topics (e.g. tools to keep handy, checklists of reminders, DIY ways to fix driveways, insulate windows, install a ceiling fan, etc) as well as some specific advice in areas such as Electrical, Plumbing, and Heating and Cooling. 

Learn about a new control device for your boiler that can save 10%+ on gas and oil consumption, nuances you should know when purchasing a new water heater, or a clever way to determine air leaks in different parts of your home.

Remember not to overreach when it comes to essential services in your home.  Some basic tasks (e.g. a leaky faucet) can be handled with a few basic tools and an instruction guide.   More complex efforts like running a new electric line to a room should be left to a licensed professional.
