Things to look for when planning on having a home inspector visit

Many homes may not have the most squeaky-clean of records, and this is important to know whether you are planning to buy, sell or keep a home. You may have problems in your home that you don't know about, and could have issues that you wouldn't know were even bad.

Some of the most obvious issues are insect or rodent infestations. These can damage the home and be obvious. However, some insects may not make their mark until it is too late. Carpenter ants and termites can destroy a home, so it could be good to have a professional ensure that these critters aren't damaging the home.

In addition, the electrical system could be not up to code, or it could be old and damaged. These types of situations could go awry quite easily, and it could lead to a house fire. If it doesn't, it could just waste money and cause other electrical issues in the home.

The home can be contaminated without knowing it. Asbestos was common in many old homes, as well as lead paint. These need to be removed by a professional, and it is important to find them quickly, as it can get the occupants in the home very sick.

Chimneys could have creosote built up inside of them from overuse and a lack of cleaning. If this is the case, lighting a fire in the fire place could cause a significant blaze. Professionals can let you know if any extra cleaning issues need to be taken care of.

Ventilation issues can be a problem in the home, and this could keep people sick with allergies, or worse. There is also the possibility of carbon monoxide building up. Solving these problems will help keep your family safe in the long run.

HomeESP has many options to help you find the right contractor if you are looking for an inspector or even a contractor to get the problem fixed. It save a significant amount of money in the long run.
