Smart gift ideas for your favorite DIYer

You may be trying to find gifts for loved ones during the holidays, and the process can be taxing. However, it doesn't have to be. Do you have a family member who is a big fan of do-it-yourself activities? Then the best gift may be to get them tools and other items that will help them do even more projects around the house.

Does your loved one plan to get some wall-hanging jobs done soon? Maybe hanging photos or shelves? Then a level may be the gift for them. However, it doesn't have to be just a simple level. There are levels with stud-finders that can kill two birds with one stone. The laser levels show you precisely where the shelves need to be, while the stud-finder lets you mark exactly where you need to nail. These items are not terribly expensive, as you can get them at most hardware stores for under $50.

Another good gift may be a tool belt. If the DIYer you're looking to buy a present for moves around and needs their hammer, tape measure, screwdrivers and anything else to be on them at arms length, then this could be a great gift for them. Granted, some tool belts can get pretty in depth and wacky, so it may be best to gauge how much they plan to fit in it. A standard one can be purchased for less than $30, but the more expensive ones can be around $50.

Is your loved one more of a woodworker? Do they slave away with little pieces of sandpaper or have to keep borrowing tools from friends? Well, there is a simple solution to their problem. You could get them a top-of-the-line belt sander. While some of these items are pretty inexpensive, it may be a good idea to spend some cash for one of these, as they typically get better as you go up in price. Cheap models can be under $100, but the more expensive ones can be around $250. It may be a good idea to hit somewhere in between.

These are only some of the great gifts you can purchase, but don't let these limit you. There's a lot more items you can get just by heading down to your local hardware store.
